The European Bioinformatics Community for Mass Spectrometry (EuBIC-MS) is pleased to announce the next edition of its Developers Meeting, now rebranded as the EuBIC-MS Hackathon 2027, to be held in Gimo, Sweden from 31 January to 5 February 2027.
Building on the successful series of EuBIC-MS Developers Meetings, the Hackathon will bring together researchers, developers, and practitioners in mass spectrometry bioinformatics to collaborate on open, community-driven projects, share expertise, and advance computational tools and methods across the omics landscape.
What to expect
The EuBIC-MS Hackathon 2027 will feature the core elements that have distinguished past Developers Meetings, including:
- Collaborative hackathon sessions, where participants work in teams on community-proposed projects related to software development, workflows, benchmarking, standards, and other topics of broad interest in MS bioinformatics
- Invited keynote presentations, offering insight into emerging trends and challenges in mass spectrometry and computational biology
- Poster sessions and lightning talks, providing a platform for participants to share ongoing work, novel ideas, and preliminary results
- Informal discussion and networking opportunities, fostering connections and future collaborations across institutions and disciplines
EuBIC-MS events are designed to be highly interactive and inclusive, welcoming contributions from academia, research infrastructure, and industry.
Call for Hackathon proposals
We invite the community to submit project proposals for the hackathon sessions. As in previous editions, projects are proposed by participants, and a selection process will be used to define the final set of hackathon topics. At the EuBIC-MS Developers Meeting 2025, anyone in the field was able to submit a proposal for a hackathon project, and the final list was selected by the organizing committee with input from the community.
Proposals should outline the goals, planned outcomes, and expected impact of the project, and may address tool development, integration, benchmarking, documentation, or other areas relevant to computational mass spectrometry and omics research. Detailed submission guidelines and deadlines will be published on the event page in due course.
